FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why Realtist not Realtor?

The term Realtist was established in 1947 during a time when the established real estate industry was closed to people of color. The true mission of NAREB and the realtist was to promote democracy in the housing for minority communities as well as to provide channels of business and economic empowerment for minorities.

While much has changed during the last 54 years, the need for NAREB and Realtists is as great as ever. The recent economic downturn and resulting foreclosure crisis have disproportionately affected African-American and other minority communities. We invite you to join us and we continue on our quest to promote democracy in housing and further the realization of the American dream of homeownership

for people of color.

Who Can Join?

Our membership includes residential and commercial real estate sales agents and brokers, loan officers and mortgage brokers, title companies, appraisers, inspectors, insurance agents, developers, housing counselors and more.

If you are involved in the housing industry in any way, you are invited to join the South Florida Board of Realtists. We focus on serving the real estate needs of the underserved.
